Cali is a 1 year-old female black and white Border Collie and is very friendly with everyone. She came into rescue from a couple who found her at a store near a local Indian Reservation. She had been there for 3 days and was constantly being shooed away and they couldn't bear to watch so they took her home and contacted us. She was very shy around new people at first but warmed up quickly to her foster Mom and will literally crawl into your lap and cuddle with you all day. Cali has really come out of her shell as far as playing with her other foster buddies and her foster Mom's personal dogs and puppies. At first meeting, she is very cautious, but once the other dog starts to play she is fine. It took her a few days to even figure out how to play with other dogs and toys, but now she runs around and plays with all the toys and is learning quickly how to fetch a tennis ball. Cali is getting familiar with household noises, etc. I don't believe she was ever inside a house but she is very calm and quiet and so far has not had any accidents. She does have access to a doggie door and goes outside quite a bit. She is used to being out and seems to really enjoy it, however she should not be left out at night. Cali is good on a leash and has learned to "sit" but will need further training and socialization to make her a well-rounded dog.
Cali is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped and ready to go to her forever home. Cali probably should not be placed in a family with small children as she may have a trust issue with little ones. Older children who will play with her and love her would be fine. |
