CHERRY
| |
|
Cherry is a stunning 4 year old female red & white split-faced semi rough Border Collie with prick ears. Cherry came from a high kill shelter and was about to be euthanized because she had been exposed to sarcoptic mange. She was listed as an Aussie and luckily the Aussie Rescue folks recognized her to be BC and forwarded her on to BCIN just in time. Although sarcoptic mange is contagious to humans and other dogs, it is very treatable. Scrapings were done on Cherry’s nose, yet they revealed no mites. Just to be sure, she was quarantined at our veterinarians for 2 weeks and was dipped twice and now has now been cleared for adoption.
Cherry is Border Collie through and through. She is as smart as a whip and learned basic obedience in about 5 minutes. She is crate trained and appears to have good house manners. She walks well on the leash and does not mind traveling and does not get car sick. She gets along well with other dogs, but she has not been evaluated with cats.
Since Cherry is so smart, she will need to have mental stimulation so she will not get bored and become destructive. This does not mean that she is a high energy dog, although she does enjoy exercise and will require activity in her life, but she has an off button. She would like nothing more than to forge a bond with her human and provide many years of loyal canine companionship.
