Meet Cookie. Cookie is an 8 month old female BC. She is tri-colored with heavy mottling on her face and legs and is semi rough coated. This lovely dog was an owner surrender to a high kill shelter. We were told that her owner had no idea what he was getting into owning a border collie.
Cookie is a typical border collie who needs a job to do so that she doesn't become bored and destructive. She is very smart, loyal and athletic. She has higher energy and she thrives on activity - a casual walk would be just a warm up for her. She would be most unhappy as a backyard dog watching life go by. Once you get some of her energy worked out of her, she has an off button and will come and sit with you. However, she will look for and is up for action as she watches your every move.
Cookie is a special dog who is looking for a home that is active and is border collie (or herding dog) savvy. She epitomizes what herding breed enthusiasts like about this breed. Cookie is very smart and will need a person who understands herding breed mentality and can challenge and stimulate her intelligence through positive re-enforcement.
We are still assessing Cookie. so feel free to contact us for more information about her. She is socialized with other dogs, walks well on a leash, and will ride in a crate under protest. She is very affectionate and enjoys being around people.
Cookie's adopters must be committed to work with the destruction and energy associated with raising a puppy, along with housebreaking accidents. As with all puppies, socialization and puppy obedience classes are a must. This will ensure that you will have an outgoing, socialized, well behaved, and well adjusted adult dog in your family.
