COWBOY
Cowboy
Cowboy is a stunning "parti-colored" 2½ year-old Border Collie blend.  Cowboy bears a striking resemblance to a breed of dog called the Canaan Dog.  This breed originated in the 1930's in the land of Canaan when out of breedings of wild dogs in Israel.  They were used for guarding camps and sheep and are also used to herd. They were also used in mine detection work for the Middle East forces.  Canaan Dogs were brought to the U.S. (California) in 1965 by the breeds' founder, Dr. Rudolphina Menzel.  They are very similar to the Border Collie in all ways and have the same drive as a Border Collie.

Cowboy is a high-energy, fun-loving, ball-chasing teenager that just loves to play and run.  He will play ball with you all day and after you're exhausted, he could still go for hours.  He loves playing with his fostermates, chasing after gophers, birds, anything that moves quickly.  Cowboy does, however, have an off switch and can be the sweetest guy lying next to you and cuddling.  He is content being in the house with you or wherever you are.  He will try and help you with whatever chore you are doing, at least he thinks he's helping, but he tries.

Cowboy has done some Agility and would be a good prospect for someone who wanted to work further with him.  Because of his obsession with playing ball and speed, he may also be a good candidate for Flyball.  Cowboy is good on a leash and loves to go for rides.  He is also crate-trained and knows how to use a doggie door.  Cowboy will need to be in an active home with a family willing to keep him stimulated both physically and mentally.  He is not a dog for someone who has never owned a Border Collie.  Please consider making Cowboy a forever member of your family.
