|
Hazel is a really nice 2 year old female Border Collie. She is a blue and white smooth coated BC with hazel colored eyes. Her tail is docked, which is a common practice on ranches. Hazel was a shelter stray and came from Central CA. If a dog does not work, then are of no value to the rancher. Because of Hazel's easy going temperament, I suspect that she was a ranch dog failure.
Hazel has just come out of quarantine, so we are getting to know her better. These are our initial observations about her temperament and behavior. Hazel enjoys the company of other dogs, even though one of our other adolescent puppy fosters, Duke, pestered her to no end. She quietly would look for escape without confrontation. Hazel has some of the dreamiest eyes that you will encounter that pierce right to your heart. From the moment I met Hazel, she wanted to forge a bond and seems like she would be a velcro dog. She is very affectionate and is even tempered. Hazel will crate right up, walks well on a leash and knows her basic obedience commands. She has not been evaluated with children or cats, so we are unsure of what her small human or animal prey drive is like. She appears to have medium energy, and would thrive on some consistent exercise, but probably would be good couch potato material. Hazel would love nothing better than to be partnered with her person. She is the type of dog that would be BFF material.
