Meet Jewel. She is a petite female 1 year old Border Collie. Jewel is a split faced black and white semi rough coat with one blue eye and one brown eye. Jewel is shy at first but opens up to you fast. She is learning to trust people and comes close for affection and to be petted. Every day we see something new about her, as she starts to blossom and gain confidence. She has started to play with her other dog friends in her home and at the dog park. To date, she still has not shown interest in tennis balls or wanting to play catch. Jewel walks nicely on a leash, is housebroken, is not a picky eater, has good manners, and does not mind being in a crate. Jewel is food motivated so training her will be easy. She is beginning to learn commands and better house manners (she counter surfs). We are still getting to know her better, so feel to write us and ask any additional questions about her.
Jewel would not be a good candidate for the first time Border Collie owner. Since she is timid, which can be typical of this breed, she will need a home that is willing to spend the time with her to help her gain her confidence through positive reinforcement obedience training. Jewel is a real diamond in the rough, but we are confident that she will become the awesome dog we think she is under the right tutelage. Please do not apply for Jewel just because she is pretty.
