Lenny - Available for Adoption From Border Collies In Need (Location: Southern CA)
Meet Lennon, aka Lenny. Lenny is a young Border Collie and Aussie mix. He is about 10 months to a year old and was rescued out of a high kill shelter. He has a docked tail, and we have no way of knowing if it is a natural dock or not.
Lenny is a very sweet and affectionate dog! He has never met a stranger, as he loves just about everyone and everything. We have not seen anyone or any dog he didn't like. He has not been evaluated with cats.
Lenny does well with older kids, however, he hasn't been around toddlers. He would do best in a home with older children because of his exbuberance, as he's learning not to jump up on people.
Lenny is learning to walk on a leash and is quite smart and learns quickly. He is crate trained for sleeping only. He is not food aggressive and can eat in a group and is doing well.
Still puppy-like. he is quite active and loves to run and play. He would do best in a home with another dog who is also as active as he is. Or, he would do well with someone who is home a lot and active. He requires mental stimulation and kept busy so he doesn't become destructive. Still a puppy, Lenny will need plenty of chew toys as he still in the chewing stage. Lenny craves attention and wants to be part of his human family. He would not be happy as a backyard dog watching life go by, but he does need a yard to play in. A condo or apartment environment would not be appropriate for Lenny.
Lenny is an open book at this stage in his life and is capable of doing anything you ask of him. He would be a good potential for amateur canine sports or advanced trick training.
