LORETTA
Loretta
Loretta is a stunning 2-year-old female red and white rough coated Border Collie or BC/Aussie mix.  She came out of a high kill shelter in Central California.  Upon seeing her shelter photo, BCIN knew immediately we had to take her into our rescue program.  She weighs in at 47 pounds and she could be either one of those BCs out of the AKC lines (heavier bone structure) or a mix; nevertheless, she is gorgeous and an affectionate dog.

It is apparent that Loretta was once a very loved dog and well taken care of.  Loretta desires to forge a tight bond with her human family.  She really wants to please her foster mom and will cuddle right next to you on the couch.  Loretta's activity and energy level is medium and she would be great for the first time BC owner.  She would require activity in her life, but she has no problems settleing down for the night.

Loretta gets along very well with other dogs (even smaller ones) and loves to chase them when she plays.  She could be placed as an only dog, but she enjoys the socialization of being with other dogs at the dog park or having doggie play dates.  She is crate trained and never has had a potty accident in the crate, even when asked to “hold it” for long periods of time.  I assume she is either housebroken or can easily learn (crate training without potty accidents is 75% there).  She does not seem to be bothered much by cats, and will call of when she tries to chase.  It is my opinion that if her new family would be willing to work with her more, she would be fine with them.  Loretta walks well on a leash and rides well in the car.  She knows basic commands and appears to have good recall.  She has been around older children and she was fine with them (9 years and above).  She is not a barker and is not destructive.

Loretta is a lovely dog and delight to have as a foster dog. Loretta will make some lucky person or family a fine & loyal family canine companion.
