LUCY |
|
Meet Lucy. Lucy's DOB is 3/22/13. Lucy is an ABCA registered female, tri-colored smooth coated Border Collie with prick ears. She was an owner relinquishment to BCIN, when her owner was suddenly called out of the country. Lucy has been well taken care of and was loved by her previous owner. She lived in an apartment with 2 cats. Lucy has beautiful manners and is well trained. She loves to play and fetch balls. She is housebroken and crate trained.
Lucy is affectionate and has a good temperament. She is well socialized with other dogs. Lucy is fine around small children. Lucy is typical of her breed. She is smart and loyal, and needs a job to do. Lucy is a bit frustrated, as she is not happy just being a backyard walk and taking walks around the block. Because of this, she has developed some obsessive compulsive traits which can be managed. She does chase shadows and bright lights. She should be adopted by anyone who is not willing to work with this behavior. If not channeled properly, Border Collies can develop Obsessive Compulsive behaviors easily. These behaviors include, but are not limited to, compulsive chasing and nipping things such as children, bicycles, skateboards, joggers, cars, shadows, birds, etc. in an effort to herd them. This herding drive is ingrained in their DNA and cannot be "trained" out of them. They can become very neurotic when their mental and physical needs are not met. When not addressed appropriately, these behaviors can quickly spiral out of control.
However, Lucy does have an off button and enjoys just hanging out with you too. All in all, a really nice dog for a person who knows how to channel this behavior with positive reinforcement.
If you are interested in meeting our dogs, please submit an adoption application. We require a pre-approved application to be on file before any meet and greets are scheduled. The electronic application can be found on our website at www.bordercolliesinneed.org/border_collie_rescue_and_adoptions/adoption_application.html
