VAN GOGH | |
| |
Meet Van Gogh. Van Gogh is a young male border collie. He is still a pup as we estimate his age to be about 9-10 months. He is a black and white with a smooth coat and prick ears. Van Gogh is aptly named as he is missing part of an ear which makes it flop over. It is unknown what happened to it, but we suspect it was from a previous dog fight.
Van Gogh is very sweet, but can be quite timid and a bit nervous upon meeting you, but will warm up to you quickly. Once he warms up to you, he wants lots of attention. We are working on his recall, and he does not appear to have been obedience trained, so formal training would be required. Van Gogh walks fairly well on a leash. He is probably not housebroken, as it appears that this youngster was neglected and not well socialized as a pup. Van Gogh is learning to trust, and will be one fantastic little dog for the person who enjoys the herding breeds. Van Gogh has appropriate energy for his age, so he would need an active household.
We are still getting to know Van Gogh, so check back with us for updates.
His adopters must be committed to work with the destruction and energy associated with raising a puppy, along with housebreaking accidents. As with all puppies, socialization and puppy obedience classes are a must. This will ensure that you have an outgoing, socialized, well behaved, and well adjusted adult dog in your family.
If you are interested in meeting our dogs, please fill out an adoption application. We require a pre-approved application to be on file before any meet and greets are scheduled. The electronic application can be found on our website at http://www.bordercolliesinneed.org/border_collie_rescue_and_adoptions/adoption_application.html
