How to adopt from BCIN
The dogs in our program are fully evaluated for temperament, sterilized, micro chipped, and all required vaccinations have been administered prior to adoption.

In order to adopt a dog from BCs in Need, Inc., you must first submit an Adoption Application.  You will be contacted by one of our volunteers to discuss your application and the BC traits you desire for your companion.  Once your application has been approved, you will be eligible to adopt.
To submit your application, you may apply online.  The more information that you can give us on your application helps us to determine if the dog is the right match for you.  Additionally, we may recommend others for your consideration that would fit into your lifestyle.  We strive to mutually match our dogs into forever homes with adopters.  You will be notified by email or telephone when your application has been approved.  We schedule adoptions by appointment only or you can visit us at local adoption events which are listed on our Events Page.  If you have another dog, you will need to bring it with you to see if they are compatible with one another.  We will do a home check, however, pictures of your home, yard, fencing, gates, and where the dog will sleep are encouraged.  If you have any questions please email us at rescue@bordercolliesinneed.org.

Thank you for considering rescue first, and for opening your heart and home to a Border Collie in need.

SHELTER NOTICE:
Due to the alarming number of Border Collies (especially mixed breed BCs) that we are currently seeing in the shelters, we have added this special notice.

BCIN has added a resource to help you locate Border Collies (or BC mixes) in our local shelters should you not find just the right dog from the currently available dogs listed on our website. Of course, we would be happy to work with you to find the perfect match so that you will end up with a great canine companion for you and your family.

After reading and becoming educated about Border Collies, some potential adopters are worried that a purebred Border Collie may not be right for them. While not everyone is suited for a purebred Border Collie, BCIN feels that many of the lovely positive traits that BCs exhibit should be enjoyed and experienced by all. You can still get all of those wonderful BC traits, but more tempered, when you choose a BC mix.

BCIN accepts mixed breed BCs into our rescue program as space permits. However, there are so many fabulous mixed breed BCs in our local shelters that deserve a second chance and a new “leash” on life. While we are able to bail many Border Collies from shelters and find them their forever homes, there are still way too many left behind that we are unable to take into our program. Therefore, we are asking you to please consider adopting one of them.

Please visit our shelter page to find a shelter near you, and if your dog is in need, please check out the “Foreclosure Pets” links in the left sidebar.
