Meet Bo Jangles. Bo is a strikingly handsome 8½ month old purebred red and white Border Collie with a semi rough coat. He was owner relinquished with his sister, Sara Lee, to BCIN because their elderly owners could not keep up with the demands of raising a young border collie and properly care for him.
Bo is very active, and plays all day with all of the dogs at his foster home. He is housetrained. Bo is typical of his breed as he is smart, loyal, athletic, and he really needs a job to do to keep him from being destructive. Bo is going to need daily consistent exercise and mental stimulation to keep him well balanced. Bo is friendly with people and is well socialized with other dogs. He is also starting to play ball, something which he had not done before coming into rescue. He is still learning to walk on a leash, but he is getting better every day.
Bo has not been evaluated with cats. We are not recommending a home with small children, as they tend to jump up on people and he could knock a small child over. Bo is a happy fellow, very biddable. He has the potential to do just about anything you want him to do.
Please do not apply for Bo because he is handsome. We are looking for a home that is BC savvy and knows the demands of raising a BC youngster. He should not be placed as an only dog, unless his person is committed to keep him active with other dogs. Bo will not be happy watching life go by him in a backyard or with just a 45 minute daily walk. His foster home has worked hard to catch up with the lack of socialization that he had when he first came into rescue. His home must be committed in continuing with the proper follow through in training and socialization to keep him properly balanced. Bo will do anything you ask of him, but he does have an off button and wants to forge a bond with his person.
Bo's adopters must be committed to work with the destruction and energy associated with raising a puppy, along with housebreaking accidents. As with all puppies, socialization and puppy obedience classes are a must. This will ensure that you will have an outgoing, socialized, well behaved, and well-adjusted adult dog in your family.
If you are interested in meeting our dogs, please fill out an adoption application. We require a pre-approved application to be on file before any meet and greets are scheduled. The electronic application can be found on our website at http://www.bordercolliesinneed.org/border_collie_rescue_and_adoptions/adoption_application.html
