BRODIE | |
|
Brodie is a striking and good looking 9-10 months old male tri-colored Border Collie with a lovely semi rough coat. Brodie’s story is that he was shelter bound and was going to be relinquished to a very high kill shelter. His last family saw him in the shelter parking lot when his owners brought him in and decided to adopt Brodie. Brodie was lucky in that he avoided the shelter system entirely. They were told that Brodie was being relinquished because he would not work on their ranch. Brodie is being relinquished to BCIN because in their own words “he deserves to be with a family who understands border collies and has time to work with him. Banjo is a beautiful and sweet boy, but he is still biting and barking a lot. He's good with the kids but is very, very anxious. He needs quite a bit of training and attention and none of us are able to do this for him". To clarify, Brodie is not aggressive, but is a typical adolescent pup in that he is mouthy. A home without children is recommended, as he may be stimulated by noise and sudden movements.
Brodie is house trained and kennel trained. He spends his days outside, evenings inside the home with his family, and he sleeps in his crate. He knows basic obedience commands, sit and stay, and he is leash trained to heel. Brodie loves to play with other dogs. Since he is still a youngster, he still chews, so he will need appropriate positive channeling and chew toys so that he is not destructive. His favorite activity is to play catch and fetch. Brodie will thrive with consistent exercise and obedience training, as he epitomizes what BC owners like about this breed – energetic, smart, athletic and loyal. If you have previous border collie experience and love training them, quirks and all, then Brodie would be an excellent choice.
