Welcome!
FRANKIE
Frankie
Frankie - 3 year old Golden Retriever-Shepherd mix.  Frankie is a smart and affectionate dog who loves to run, plays well with other dogs, good with people and children, and is good off-leash!  We adopted Frankie over 2 years ago from San Pedro Shelter when she was about 12-18 months old.  We wanted her for a companion to our 5 yr old male Australian Shepherd/black lab mix Beans.  The match was beautiful for both of them from the first meeting to their last day together, which was about 3 weeks ago.  My husband and I take the dogs on off-leash walks on the Palos Verdes Estates parkland trails every day for 45 - 60 minutes.  They run at top speed, jump over fences and rails, chase squirrels, dig for gophers, etc.

It turns out that this high level of activity is too much for Beans, but OK for Frankie. Last year, Beans ruptured his right ACL, had expensive surgical repair, and still has a limp.  After that, we tried to limit his activity, but he wasn't happy not being able to keep up with Frankie.  At home we have a 2 story house that leads to the backyard.  Frankie always initiated a run down the stairs at high speed, a mad dash through the dog door, and a thorough search for any wild life in the yard.  What fun for a dog!  They had a great time together.  Several months ago, I noticed Beans limping on his left rear leg.  A trip to our Vet, Dr. Leibl, in Hermosa, confirmed a left ACL knee injury.  Dr. Leibl is postponing and trying to treat Beans conservatively with medicine and rest and very little activity.  We love her but we have to find her a home because our first and older dog will become a cripple if he isn't kept more quiet and sedate.  With Frankie as his cohort, he is much too active for his own good and has caused too much injuries to his knees.

Frankie is currently being fostered by a very nice woman whom we know from our hikes (in our neighborhood) until we find a new home for her.  Wont you please consider adopting this wonderful great mix of a dog and get her back on her fun track.  Please contact Dot and Don McRell at (310) 378-2723, or dmcrell@verison.net to inquire about beautiful Frankie.
