LILY |
|
Lily is a year old female tri colored border collie with a semi rough coat. She does not have a full tail, and we do not know if she was born with a partially docked tail. She's missing about 1/2 of it. She was brought to the shelter as a stray with a badly shattered femur that required immediate amputation. The vet felt that this did not happen from being hit by a car, but is more indicative of being kicked by livestock.
She was adopted by the vet tech who tenderly cared for her after surgery. She adored Lily and reluctantly relinquished her to BCIN. However, this is a busy little girl, and once she recovered from surgery, her true colors started to appear. This is a dog that needs a job to do, and since one was not provided for her, she became bored in her new home, found something to do, and was destructive, which is typical of this breed. Her owner tried to provide more for her to do, but it was not enough to keep her settled. Lily probably was a working dog, cut down at a young age from a job that is in her genetics . Even though she is a tripod, this little girl has plenty of get up and go. She will need an active home that can provide her with a job to do with mental stimulation.
The wonderful thing about Lily, she has an off button. She is so affectionate and loves to cuddle next to you for tummy rubs. Her former owner could not sing enough praise on what a great dog Lily is. She is housebroken, likes kids, cats, and other dogs. She does great with dogs that like to play (which will help her from being destructive). She has beautiful house manners. All in all, Lily is a catch for the BC aficionado that understands what it takes to channel her boredom with consistent daily exercise and mental stimulation.
If you are interested in meeting our dogs, please fill out an adoption application. We require a pre-approved application to be on file before any meet and greets are scheduled.
