SCOUT

|
Meet Scout. Scout is a classic female Border Collie, smart and athletic, with a beautiful medium length black and white coat. She’s about two years old, 44 pounds, and has a medium energy level. Like all BCIN animals, she is sterilized, microchipped, and her vaccinations are up to date.
Scout is trusting, gentle, confident and curious. Her true personality will be revealed slowly, with familiarity and a stable, nurturing environment. Scout is the kind of girl who curls up at your feet, while you sit at your desk. She loves regular walks; show her a leash, and she will come and sit in front of you. She’s quite easy on leash, but easily distracted. She is not yet trustworthy off leash.
Scout is crate trained and house trained, but needs guidance in her manners; food on your counter or dinner table is fair game, she loves to lounge on your furniture, and sleep on your bed with you. Scout sits on command, but needs help with basic obedience, recall and occasional moderate resource guarding behavior.
Scout seems most comfortable with dogs smaller than herself, and can be quite playful. Thoughtful introductions are required, as she can be confrontational or dominant. She can be happy as an only dog, or with the right dog siblings. She has not been tested with cats or children, but harmony with them is doubtful.
Scout loves car rides and jumps right into an open car door. She loves to alternate her time indoors and outdoors, and will let you know her current preference. Scout can be a wonderful companion for an active, experienced owner.
If you are interested in meeting our dogs, please fill out an adoption application. We require a pre-approved application to be on file before any meet and greets are scheduled. Our dogs have been sterilized, microchipped, and are up to date on their vaccinations. The electronic application can be found on our website at www.bordercolliesinneed.org/border_collie_rescue_and_adoptions/adoption_application.html.
