MEET "Skye"!!
This blue-eyed beauty is Skye, a 1-2 year old spayed female Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix, available for adoption. Skye is in foster care in the Santa Barbara area, but is from the Santa Maria shelter, via Santa Barbara County Animal Services.
This girl is a stunner! She's lean like a BC, but leggy like an Aussie (probably about 40 lbs.), with an adorable stub instead of a tail, and penetrating blue eyes. She's black and white, with just a bit of brown on her legs, and a lovely coat -- on the short side, but lightly feathered and very glossy. (None of that fine, long hair that makes many Aussies so hard to keep clean!)
Skye is housebroken, good with other dogs, safe with cats (although she does get interested now and again, and sticks her nose up their butts) and affectionate with people. She likes toys and balls and would be easy to turn into a "ball dog" or train for agility. She will need obedience training, but she's bright and eager to please, so it won't take long to make her a great companion. She'll also need daily exercise, like all these young herding breed dogs, so if you are a couch potato, this is not the dog for you!!
Skye is ready for her forever home, eager to join a family, go on hikes and runs, and make your life more joyful for having her in it!
If you are interested in Skye, email me at info@ccbcrescue.com for a copy of the shelter's short adoption application. YOU MUST SUBMIT A COMPLETED APPLICATION FIRST! It isn't a commitment to adopt, just a pre-screening tool to make sure you are compatible (fence high enough, that kind of thing) and meet the shelter's minimum adoption requirements (landlord approval if you rent, etc.). It's all meant to save you time up front. If you do rent, line up your landlord first, as the shelter WILL CALL to confirm that you have permission to have a dog. You really don't want your landlord to hear from them first!
The shelter's adoption fee is $90, and includes her spay and vaccinations, a great deal!
